Death, Meet Life

We got engaged a little less than four months ago. We are pretty much the dream couple.

We bought a house just over a month ago. Our house is pretty much the dream house.

We were getting married in a little less than four months from now. Our wedding would be pretty much the dream wedding.

We found out Dad has pancreatic cancer a week and a half ago. My Dad is pretty much the dream dad.

And like that my dream life got flipped upside down. Not that Dad was the center of my dreams, but he was certainly a part of all of them. He was there when we got engaged. He was there when we bought our house. He would be there when we finished our house. He would be there when we got married. He would be there to hold my kids.

But ultimately these dreams aren’t my life. At least not when I realize that ‘my life’ isn’t actually what I experience. My life was and only is Jesus.

So instead of letting death into my life, I’ll introduce death to Jesus.

Death, meet life.
