Reactions and Rest

Everyone has the answer to ISIS. Christians condemn each other because they’re on the wrong side of the argument. Politicians take it as an opportunity to further their cause. Pacifists call us to turn the other cheek. But all of these are just reactions. They are our attempts at controlling something out of our control. We’re afraid and we want an answer (ideally the answer we agree with).

But fear is not our God. Our God is peace in the midst of chaos. You don’t have the answer and that’s okay. Take a step back and allow Him to fill you with His peace because He is the answer and you have Him. War is not the answer. Compassion is not the answer. Jesus is the answer.

Your response isn’t going to be the same as everyone else’s response and that’s okay. He might bring you to anger. He might bring you to action. He might bring you to rest. But let Him take you there. Don’t do this on your own.
